Christoper H. Calfee is returning to his home firm of Best Best & Krieger as an of counsel attorney in their environmental and natural resources practice.
Calfee was appointed more than a year ago by Gov. Schwarzenegger as special counsel to the California Natural Resources Agency and Office of Planning and Research to help develop and adopt key guidelines to aid state agencies and local government bodies in determining if the projects or activities they are considering generate significant greenhouse gas emissions and how those emissions can be reduced or offset. The guidelines became effective today.
Calfee first joined BB&K in 2004, representing clients in litigation and administrative proceedings involving land use, environmental and water law, with particular emphasis on CEQA (California Environmental Quality Act) and its federal equivalent, the National Environmental Policy Act, known as NEPA.
Back at BB&K, he will help cities, water districts and
private businesses understand how to comply with the state’s latest regulations
involving climate change.
